IC-7610
Direct RF sampling system
Icom’s direct RF sampling system, introduced with the IC-7300, made SDR performance affordable.
Direct sampling means that the incoming RF signals are digitized by the analog-to-digital converter and directly processed by the FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array).
This process greatly reduces the distortion that naturally occurs in the various mixer stages found in traditional hyperheterodyne receivers.
Astonishing 110dB RMDR
The direct RF sampling system in the IC-7610 is capable of 110 dB RMDR.
This performance enables you to pull weak signals from the noise of strong adjacent signals.
The custom VCXO is used for the master clock
Reducing phase noise in a receiver is always a challenge as it is a natural characteristic of a receiver.
The IC-7610’s master clock uses a low phase noise VCXO (Voltage Controlled Crystal Oscillator), combined with Icom’s years of technical expertise to design a common power supply for the VCXO and FPGA, yielding extremely low phase noise. Also, a 10 MHz reference signal can be fed into the IC-7610 for greater accuracy.
Independent Dual Receiver
Whether you’re listening to both sides of a rare split-run DX station or looking for a multiplier on a different band or mode, the IC-7610’s dual receivers have you covered. Two separate DIGI-SEL presets, two separate Band Pass Filter networks, feed two separate A/D converters on the FPGA.
DIGI-SEL for Main and Sub Bands
DIGI-SEL presets are RF filters with sharp, narrow bandpass characteristics that prevent the analog-to-digital converter from being overwhelmed by large out-of-band signals when sampling RF signals.
This is ideal when receiving strong signals in a contest pile-up or from broadcast stations on neighboring frequencies or bands.
High quality sound
In the receiver, there is an internal speaker box. The enclosure is tuned to reproduce clear, natural sound and is insulated from the transceiver chassis to prevent noise from vibration and panel resonance.
Digital-Up-Conversion (DUC) for Clean TX
Breaking with the tradition of mixing a carrier signal with a local oscillator, the IC-7610 uses a Digital-Up-Conversion (DUC) method to generate the required signal from the digital-to-analog converter.
Built-in Automatic Antenna Tuner
The built-in automatic antenna tuner remembers its settings based on your transmit frequency, so it can recall the tuning setting when you change operating bands.
The emergency tuner function* enables you to operate for short periods of time with a high SWR antenna.
7 inch color screen with touch screen function
The large 7-inch color display shows various operating and setting information at a glance in high resolution (800 × 480 pixels.)
The display clearly displays various features, for example the dual spectrum range aligned vertically or horizontally, simulated analog meters and decoded RTTY, PSK31/63 messages.
Dual receivers, dual spectrum fields
The IC-7610 provides dual reception, in different bands, as well as high-speed, high-resolution spectrum fields.
Whether you’re monitoring a band opening, working a rare split DX station or looking for a multiplier, the ability to monitor each receiver individually allows the operator to concentrate on pulling in a weak signal.
The scopes deliver best-in-class performance in resolution, scan speed and 100dB dynamic range.
The scroll function automatically keeps the operating signal within the range.
To more easily navigate the zone, connect a computer mouse to the USB port for point-and-click tuning of the receivers.
The Audio Scope screen
The Audio Scope display also displays a cascaded FFT field along with an oscilloscope for transmitting and receiving audio.
This makes it easy to monitor AF features such as mic compressor level, filter width, notch filter, and in CW, you can monitor received CW keying waveforms.
Touch screen and multi-option button for smooth operation
The combination of the touch screen and the multi-option button offers fast and smooth operation.
When you press the multi-option button, menu items appear on the right side of the screen.
You can select an item by touching the screen and you can adjust the levels by rotating the multi-option knob.
Remote encoder for second VFO knob
The optional RC-28 remote encoder lets you add an external sub-selector for sub-band control.
The main and sub bands can be switched with the F1 and F2 buttons and can be controlled with the RC-28. The LED above the F1 and F2 buttons lights up to indicate the active zone.
DVI-D connector for connecting an external monitor
The IC-7610 has a DVI-D connector for an external display. Operating frequency, tuning information and spectrum range can be viewed on a large external display.
SD card slot and USB port for data storage
When used with an SD card or USB flash drive, various contents including firmware updates, memory channels, screenshots and other personal settings can be saved and loaded.
TX/RX audio, voice memories, RTTY/CW memories and RTTY decode logs can be stored and used on the SD card.
